Norah Jones

The singer with an irresistible voice Norah Jones was born March 30, 1979 in New York, but she spent her childhood in the suburbs of Dallas. She is the daughter of renowned Indian sitar player, Ravi Shankar. She was raised by the music celebrity mother, organizer of concerts including jazz and soul. After high school, she entered the University of North Texas, where she got a specialization in jazz piano. In 1999, following the offer of a friend, she moved to Manhattan. She landed a job as a waitress in a cafe and sat behind the piano during each of her breaks. She played standard jazz songs but also her first compositions. By December 99, she often appears with a funk group, Wax Poetic. Quickly she created her own group with Jesse Harris, Lee Alexander and Dan Rieser. In October 2000, when she worked at Living Room, she was spotted by the composer and guitarist Peter Malick and he decided to get her to play on 7 of his tracks. But this collabotration was to stop there there. At the same time, she tried her luck and recording songs that she sent home to the famous Blue Note record. She succeeded on February 2002 when she released her first album Come Away with Me. It instantly received good reviews and was praised for blending of several music genres. Next came Feels like Home in 2004 and Not Too Late after that, in 2007.
