Charisma Carpenter was born on July 23, 1970, and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. Even during her childhood Charisma was very interested in the arts. When she was only 5 years old she was studying ballet. Although Charisma enjoyed living in Las Vegas, her parents decided to move to Australia when she was 15 years old. It was at that time that Charisma decided to attend the school of drama, and make the travel an hour every day from Mexico from San Diego. After graduating from high school Charisma, like many others of her young age, she decided to travel to Europe. After returning to San Diego, she started working, carrying out any task to support herself. She worked as a dispatcher at a video store, as aerobics instructor in 1991 and San Diego Chargers' cheerleader. Soon, Charisma decided to move to Los Angeles and took a job as a waitress in the restaurant Mirabelle in Sunset Boulevard. But she wasn't thinking about acting career by then; Charisma was saving money to return to school and become a English professor. Her fate, however, would lead her towards a very different direction. While she was working, an agent discovered her and recommended that she attend a school of acting. After browsing all the schools and courses offers, Charisma decided to go to Playhouse West, an acting school with very good reputation. Because she soon realized how much she liked to perform, Charisma stayed there studying for eighteen months. While studying, Charisma started appearing in a large amount of commercials. Upon doing twenty of them, she got her first opportunity as an actress in "Baywatch" in 1995. Nearly 7 years after its appearance as a guest on the program, Charisma won a leading role in "Malibu Shores" from Aaron Spelling. Unfortunately, the program, also starring Keri Russell, didn't last long, and once again Charisma had no work as an actress. After a few guest appearances on other shows like "Pacific Blue" and "Boy Meets World", the fate of Charisma was about to change. Fortunately, the agent Charisma sent her to audition for "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer" in 1997. Initially she tested for the role of Buffy, which as we all know went to Sarah Michelle Gellar. But the producers asked her to try for the role of Cordelia, then she was selected for the role instantly. After three years of "Buffy", Charisma was offered co-starring role in the series "Angel", to which she agreed and she continued to play the same character in it. Meanwhile, Charisma has agreed to appear in the June 2004 edition of Playboy.
